Choose to Love Yourself - 10 Self-Care Practices to Try This Week

Hello my dears! It's been a month since my last blog post, which might be the longest I've ever gone without writing on here. Things have gotten so chaotic and overwhelming in my life. I've been trying to figure out where to spend my time with all of the new plans and responsibilities I have to take care of. I'm spread thin and forgetful- definitely not my best self.

 

So what does this have to do with self-love and care? Well, everything.

 

The simple act of allowing myself to take some time off from blogging was an immense act of self-care on my part. I felt in my heart that I needed some space for myself to regroup and get my head together. Time to focus on working with my first clients, participating in my coach training program, and going on a snowboarding vacation to New Hampshire. I could have stressed myself out and tried to cram several blog posts into an already hectic schedule, but instead I chose the kind option. To give myself a break. A breather.

I believe we all need to give ourselves more love and care. We're so hard on ourselves all the time, but I want you to ask yourself this... Would you be this tough on a friend? I hope not! In times of stress, you'd probably tell her to go relax and pamper herself. That it's okay to not finish everything perfectly. So, you know what? It's time to treat yourself as your own best friend. Be the love of your own life!

 

It's all about cutting yourself some slack. Take on the challenge, and try one of these beautiful acts of radical self-care each day:

 

+ Be open with others about your feelings and not have them try to guess what your needs are.

+ Admit to someone that you need help and accept their loving assistance without shame.

+ Give yourself time away from things in order to center yourself and recharge your batteries.

+ Throw away perfectionism and being so hard on yourself at work.

+ End a relationship (platonic or romantic) with someone who doesn't treat you with kindness and respect.

+ Allow yourself to feel a wide range of emotions (joy, anger, jealousy, relief, etc.) and not feel guilty about having them. You're human!

+ Go with your own gut, your heart, your intuition instead of being bossed around by others. Trust yourself.

+ Take on opportunities that bring you happiness and meaning, even if they go against the grain.

+ Let go of past mistakes and punishment from your inner critic. 

+ Accept yourself just as you are. Flaws and all- you are enough

Take a warm bubble bath, paint yourself a picture for your bedroom, get a life coach, book a massage, plan your dream vacation, call someone who makes your soul light up, eat at your favorite restaurant, take a nature walk, buy yourself a beautiful new outfit, laugh your butt off, write an encouraging letter from your future self, try out a sultry dance class, read a book you've been dying to check out, take a day off work to pamper yourself, get a pedicure, and plan out your dream goals.
